Distributed data processing Network or DDP Network is one in which many geographically dispersed, independent computer systems are linked together by a communication network, facilitating the transfer of data, programs or messages between the processors so that a local user can get his job processed locally or on a remote processor as he chooses. A DDP network may be used by one organisation. In a non hierarchical (lateral) DDP , several processors can be linked together in ring network.
