Multiplexing is the method of dividing a physical channel into many logical channel so that a number of independent signals may be simultaneously transmitted on it. The device used for this purpose is called multiplexer. Many organisation to day have installed multiplexers in their networks. this machine allows more than one data terminal equipement to share the communication line and can result in substantial savings by decreasing the number of lines used.
